I'm Phelisa Moni from Paarl a 25year old graduate from Pinotage Youth Development Academy currently working at Spice Route Wine Estate as the wine host, after I passed my matric I couldn't further my studies due to financial challenges I had to look for some kind of job.

I came across with the information about the Pinotage Youth Development Academy I applied went through a difficult selection I was lucky I made it to the final 25 the first generation of PYDA I had to leave my job because I was eager to learn about the wine industry.

After I resigned at work my mom was very anxious because there wont be any kind of extra income but because I had faith, trust and hope I told myself this is what I want life is about risks.

Listening and leading skills, independency, handling pressure, sharing new ideas and respecting others point of view those are some of the things I learnt from the PYDA of which they made a difference in my life. The whole year at PYDA it was not easy I had to face the real world through my work placements I got recommended by PYDA for the Burgundy wine exchange through Elsenburg College and I was one of the selected candidates.

I spent 6weeks in Burgundy I worked in Cote de Nuit at Domain Dubois I learnt more about the traditional way of wine making I loved being surrounded by people from different ethnics groups and I had to adapt from different cultures. I thank the PYDA for seeing a potential on me I learnt that anything is possible and I have a bright future ahead.
